UK weather: Arctic air sends temperatures plunging to -3C as most parts of Britain will see freezing temperatures this weekend

<iframe frameborder="0" height="100%" scrolling="no" src="https://www.gbnews.com/res/scraper/embed/?video_url=https%3A%2F%2Fmm-v2.simplestream.com%2Fiframe%2Fplayer.php%3Fkey%3D3Li3Nt2Qs8Ct3Xq9Fi5Uy0Mb2Bj0Qs%26player%3DGB003%26uvid%3D52813313%26type%3Dvod%26viously_id%3DjXTpUV0A8_l" width="100%"></iframe><br/><p>A powerful Arctic air will send temperatures plunging to as low as -3C, with all of Britain seeing freezing temperatures this weekend.</p><p>The UK is already battling a <a href="https://www.gbnews.com/weather/cold-weather-met-office-yellow-ice-warning-thursday-february-13-latest" target="_blank">spout of chilly weather</a>, with snow showers falling in several places including the Southern Uplands, the Shropshire Hills and the Cotswolds. </p><h3></h3><br/><p>Attendees dressed in their best outfits on day two of the Cheltenham Festival were also subjected to a light snowfall, which quickly turned to sleet.</p><p>And the dreary weather shows no signs of slowing down, with forecasters warning that the arctic air will “stay with us well into next week”.</p><h3></h3><br/><img alt="Weather map" class="rm-shortcode" data-rm-shortcode-id="86fe099524cc386b931320bac832ce38" data-rm-shortcode-name="rebelmouse-image" id="53704" loading="lazy" src="https://www.gbnews.com/media-library/weather-map.png?id=57089080&width=980"/><h3></h3><br/><div class="embed-latest"></div><p>Weather maps from WXCharts for Sunday show an icy blue front sweeping across the UK, with no part spared from freezing temperatures.</p><p>The lowest predicted temperature is in Somerset, where a bitterly cold -3C is expected.</p><p>NetWeather's senior forecaster Jo Farrow said that the weekend will be characterised by the “chilly arctic air” which will bring about “frosts by night”.</p><p>She said: “It’s looking dry this weekend but chilly. The cold air will stay with us well into next week.
