As I said, the problem is the Tory Party is dysfunctional at the moment. It has too many Lib Dem MPs, which is a legacy of David Cameron’s selection processes. Those were based on quotas, not merit.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Nigel Farage prepares to send in 'Doge auditors' after Reform exposes crazy council spending sprees

'Lined up for a big surrender': Richard Tice blasts Starmer’s EU talks as he reveals Farage demand

Reform poised to become biggest party as pollsters hand Farage record result - full seat breakdown

"People shouldn’t be in the House of Commons for any reason other than merit. Any other driver is simply wrong. So, the Tory Party has a lot of reforming to do. The question is: can they do that?

"You asked me what I'm going to do. I mean, literally, I was under police investigation until last Wednesday.

"As you know, I heard the news that the case had been dropped, which I always thought it would be, because I didn’t do anything. But, you never know. In Britain now, there are probably a lot of innocent people languishing in prison, and I intend to pursue that.

"One other option is that I set up my own party. Another option would be to join Reform. But, number one, you don’t win anything with bad people.

"From what Nigel has said, from what Tice has said, from what virtually all the commentators have said, they wouldn’t welcome me back anyway. So look, I’ve got a clean sheet of paper and I’m going to work out what I do next."

Tensions between Reform UK and Lowe flared in March, following a provocative interview he gave to the Daily Mail.

In it, Lowe suggested it was "too early to know" whether Nigel Farage could become Prime Minister and described Reform as a "protest party led by the Messiah" a reference to the Clacton MP.

Farage swiftly hit back, accusing the former Reform MP of undermining party unity by, in his words, "unloading a barrage of criticisms against our operations and its main actors."

Writing in The Daily Telegraph that same month, Farage warned: "If the last general election taught us anything, it is that the public does not like political parties that engage in constant infighting."

In his interview with GB News, Lowe appeared to compliment his Conservative Commons colleagues.

He stated: "I see them all in Parliament. I was there on Friday. We were all voting on the assisted dying bill or some amendments to the assisted dying bill.

"So I see them, you know. I get on with them. You're in a very, very unhealthy, sort of overcrowded place. And of course, you bump into each other and of course, you talk to each other.

"As I've said, there are some very able young Tories and there's some light within their camp. But I think there's a lot of what I call brambles and overgrowth that's stopping those that light coming through and showing what needs to be done."

GB News has approached Reform UK for comment.
