<img src="https://www.gbnews.com/media-library/poll-of-the-day-is-it-already-too-late-to-stop-britain-becoming-an-island-of-strangers-vote-now.jpg?id=60204200&width=1200&height=800&coordinates=0%2C1%2C0%2C2"/><br/><br/><p>Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has warned the UK risks becoming an "island of strangers" without a crackdown on immigration.</p><p>Labour unveiled its new immigration white paper yesterday aimed at "taking back control" of Britain's borders and significantly reducing migration.</p><p>The Prime Minister pledged to end what he called a "one nation experiment in open borders" after net migration reached nearly 1 million in 2023.</p><p>"That's not control. It's chaos," Starmer said in his announcement of the 80-page plan.</p><p>The white paper outlines comprehensive changes to the immigration system, with tighter controls across work, family and study routes.</p><p>Skill requirements will be raised to degree level, with English language requirements extended to all routes, including for dependents.</p><p>The time required to acquire settled status will be doubled from five to ten years.</p><p><em><strong>Is it already too late to stop Britain becoming an island of strangers?
