The King and Queen will be in attendance at many events throughout the four-day period.</p><p>More than 1,300 members of Britain's armed forces will march through central London from outside parliament to Buckingham Palace on Monday, and they will watched by the King, members of the Royal Family, as well as Prime Minister Keir Starmer and veterans of the conflict.</p><p>Iconic buildings across the UK will light up from Tuesday evening, including Buckingham Palace, 10 Downing Street, and the Houses of Parliament.</p><p>King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the military parade on Monday. </p><p>They will also host a tea party for war veterans, their families and other members of the wartime generation in the palace gardens.</p><p>Starmer described next week’s commemoration plans as “a moment of national unity” to “salute” the service of Second World War veterans.</p><p>He will give a reading at Westminster Abbey on Thursday, the actual 80th anniversary.
