Reading 'Claiming Her Dignity'
How much do I know about Africa? Of course, not much. I have not read many books or articles written by people from Africa. However, these days, I have encountered some books, students and scholars from Africa. What a wonderful, astonishing thing this is, meeting people and reading things from such a far and exotic land. I cannot help but admit that I have been excessively, asymmetrically educated and affected by the so-called first-world academic thoughts such as those originating from the United States and Europe. I myself must have been immersed in a colonial, ruling mindset about other nations in Africa.
